A little history about Kevin Rudulph...
How/when did you first get into paintball? I played paintball for the first time at a friend’s birthday party in 8th grade. It was just way to much fun and I couldn’t quit playing paintball.
What was the name of your first paintball team? My first paintball team was a 3 man team with Justin Rabackoff, and G-no and our name was FX Factory. My first PSP or national team was DC Devastation with Justin Rabackoff, G-no, and Steve Rabackoff as the coach.
What was the first paintball marker you shot? A Tippman 98 custom! Pretty standard
How did you make it to the Pros? I made it to the pros by playing my butt off, and listening and learning from the people around me. And when you have Jon Richardson, Rusty Glaze, Steve Rabackoff and other pro players playing at your field, you can really learn a lot. Oh, and also by not being an annoying kid bugging the pro players I talked to, that way they wouldn’t mind actually teaching me.
Who has influenced you the most in paintball? If it wasn't for a certain bald man moving to my area, and having a son that was also my age and who wanted to play paintball as much as me, I can say that I probably wouldn't have had the team or support to even have a paintball team. Oh and that certain person is Steve Rabackoff, thanks again Steve! Also a big shout out to my Mom for driving me to the paintball field every weekend before I could drive and for everything else you have done for me!
About Me Now...
What are you best known for doing on the paintball field? Being a well rounded consistent player who always keeps it together, haha well that’s my opinion at least.
And off the paintball field? I am a full time college student at VCU in Richmond VA. I am a Graphic Designer Major with only one semester left and I’m out. When I’m not at school I have a baby boy whos not even 2 months old yet! So far he is an awesome little guy. My baby momma and girlfriend, Kylie of 4 years also keeps me busy. I also love to be outside playing with our dogs!
What paintball marker do you use now? I use an Empire AXE paintball gun.
If your paintball teammates had only one word to describe you, what would it be? Strangler
What are your pre-game rituals? Energy drink, blast tunes on the ipod, clear my thoughts.
Do you have any superstitions? Yeah, everytime my mom says, “be careful don’t speed!” I always get a ticket
Name at least one paintball item you couldn’t win without. A one paintball “item” I’ll have to go with a paintball gun that never has a single problem, ever.
We talkin bout practice...
How often do you practice paintball between events? Every weekend I can, so about 3 good long sessions of paintball a month. Sometimes I like to go out to the paintball field during the week with one of my friends when no one else is there so you can just dial in your shots.
What are key paintball drills you recommend to those needing to excel their skills? You shouldn't have to think about aiming or doing anything with you paintball marker, it should happen automatically by playing / holding you paintball gun as much as possible. So set up a few orange cones behind some bunkers on the left then the right and so on. At a quick speed (but at first not worrying about how fast you are running but more about your accuracy) run down and shoot each cone switching hands for every target.
What is the key to keeping a paintball team together or to building a successful paintball team? Everyone has to have the same goals, everyone has to get along, everyone has to only want to play for that team and that team only.
Back to the future...
What does the future of paintball have in store for you? I would like to continue you playing paintball for the rest of my life, but now that I have a son to look after, and graduating from college, my paintball future will depend on my” real world” future
Where would you like to see paintball elevate to in the next 3 years? Top ten plays on ESPN, have enough support to actually pay poor paintball players so they can support their families and also let us continue to play the game we love with no extra worries.
How can fans learn more about you, your team and possible clinics?
